St Ives is one of the most well-known holiday destinations in Cornwall. As well as as its stunning beaches it is famous as an inspiration for generations of artists, attracted by the unique quality of the light and unspoilt Cornish coastal landscapes. This is Porthmeor Beach which, as you can see, is a popular choice in mid-summer, but also provides year-round entertainment for surfers.
Behind and above you is Tate St Ives which was opened in 1993. As well as permanant displays by local artists including Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, Sir Terry Frost and Barbara Hepworth, the gallery has a programme of exhibitions showcasing the work of prominent modern and contemporary artists.
