Newquay, Fistral Beach

Fistral Beach is at the epicentre of the Cornwall surf scene and hosts several major surf tournaments annually, this panorama was shot during the 2007 Rip Curl Boardmasters event in August.

You are standing on the first floor terrace of the International Surf Centre, which was opened in summer 2003. As well as facilities for the surfing community it includes a cafe, restaurant and bar, changing facilites and shops. You can hire wetsuits and surfboards from here if you don't have your own.

Fistral is actually three beaches - South Fistral, which is to the left of the red Walls ice cream flag as you look out to sea over the balcony of the surf centre, North Fistral beyond the black Relentless flag and Little Fistral which is a small bay further to the North accessable only at low tide.
