Truro Cathedral was built on the site of the Parish Church of St Mary. The foundation stone was laid on 20th May 1880. It was the first cathedral to be built on a new site since Salisbury in 1220. The present 14th Bishop of Truro is Bishop Bill Ind.
Here, you can see the cathedral interior and the cathedral choir, known as one of the most dynamic and exciting groups of its type in the UK, at practice. There are six sung services each week in term time, sung by the eighteen boys and twelve men of the choir.
Above and to your right you can see the Willis organ, one of three organs in the cathedral. Father Willis was a renowned organ builder and this instrument is regarded as one of the finest in the country.
