Fowey Regatta

Fowey is a small town and port at the mouth of the Fowey river on Cornwall's south coast. There are ferries across the river to Polruan, Mevagissey and Bodinnick.

The Fowey Royal Regattta takes place every year at the end of August. The week-long event includes sailing races, live music, and a carnival and culminates in a spectacular firework display. Most of the events are free, funded by sponsorship, souvenir sales and street collections.

The Red Arrows have been coming to Fowey for 30 years - the first display took place in 1977. Here an appreciative crowd watches the aerial manoeuvers from Fowey's Town Quay. This composite image shows the Red Arrows in three separate formations performed during the course of the display.
