Truro Cathedral was built on the site of the Parish Church of St Mary. The
foundation stone was laid on 20th May 1880. It was the first cathedral to
be built on a new site since Salisbury in 1220. The present 14th Bishop
of Truro is Bishop Bill Ind.
You are looking at St Mary's Aisle on the South side of the
Cathedral. This was originally the South aisle of St Mary's Parish Church,
incorporated into the new cathedral by the architect, John Loughborough
Pearson.
Opposite is Cathedral Lane which leads into Boscawen Street.
