St Winnow Church, Lerryn

Situated on the banks of the River Fowey, St Winnow Church has to have one of the most spectacular views of any churchyard in Britain. Most of the church dates from the 15th Century, though the oratory of St Winnoc was originally built in the 7th century and parts of the North wall and transept date from the 12th century.

St Winnow's is well-known for its carved bench ends which include some unusual figures including a St Catherine's Wheel, a ship and a man wearing a Cornish kilt drinking cider. Other interesting things to see inside include 16th century and Victorian stained glass windows, a 15th Century font and one of the few Rood screens to have survived in Cornwall.
