Polruan

Polruan CastlePolruan is a quiet, unspoilt Cornish village that tumbles down a steep hill on the Eastern side of the Fowey estuary. It’s surrounded by water on three sides so, once you’ve arrived, there’s nowhere else to go - except across on the ferry to bigger, busier and better-known Fowey on the opposite bank. Or you could stop off for lunch in one of Polruan’s two quayside pubs.

On Lookaround Cornwall we’ve captured the view from Polruan’s Quay, and Polruan ‘Castle’ - the fifteenth Century blockhouse defence. The view from here is even more spectacular, turn to look out to sea and you could easily believe you were somewhere in the Mediterranean.
