Over the last few months we’ve been skipping lunch and staying behind after work to make some big changes to lookaroundcornwall.com. Yes, things look a bit different, our new design is much cleaner and easier to navigate, but the changes go way beyond appearances. We’ve completely restructured the site and transferred everything to a database-driven content management system. What that means in practice is that it will be much easier for us to maintain the site and grow it, adding lots of new content as well as new features. Some of these are already taking shape. Our new map differentiates between different kinds of locations - gardens, accommodation, beaches etc. - with different coloured markers.
We’ll be making it easier for visitors to the site to participate by adding their own content - more about that soon, and we’re changing the way you can subscribe to and receive our regular email newsletters and adding RSS feeds so that you can receive updates in your news reader. If you’re an existing subscriber you’ll soon be getting some information about this. If you haven’t yet subscribed, don’t worry, you’ll have an opportunity to do so soon.
