It’s been snowing here in Cornwall, as well as in most of the rest of the country. The snow has been causing all kinds of problems on the roads and elsewhere, with many schools closed and people unable to get to work. Here in Truro’s Victoria Gardens the snow makes a perfect Christmas card scene.

Here in the Lookout tower at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, you’d be forgiven for spending all of your time gazing out of the window. The sweeping panorama of the estuary, Falmouth, the harbour and docks has to be one of the most spectacular views in Cornwall.
There’s plenty to see and do inside as well, [...]

Last Wednesday evening, Truro was transformed as a procession of animals, angels, pixies and other strange and magnificent illuminated forms snaked their way through the city accompanied by Samba bands and exotically attired dancers. Yes, it was the annual City of Lights Parade, now in its thirteenth year.
The crowds turned out in force, and though [...]

Pendeen Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1900. For a mainland lighthouse, it feels very remote and isolated. The atmosphere here when the mist rolls in and the automatic foghorn starts up must be quite creepy, but in the late afternoon sunshine it makes a stunning addition to the West Penwith coastal landscape [...]

Lanyon Quoit stood on the Penwith landscape for more than five thousand years, until it fell down in 1815. A few years later they put it back up again and, though somewhat diminished in height and facing a different direction, it remains an imposing testament to the Neolithic people who built it.
We’ve added two Lanyon [...]

According to the BBC, the General Synod of the Church of England has approved a proposal to make churches more accessible to tourists. We’re all for that, and we’re doing our bit to raise the profile of Cornish churches by including as many as we can on Lookaround Cornwall.
We already have some panoramas of Truro [...]
