Let there be light (houses)
Pendeen Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1900. For a mainland lighthouse, it feels very remote and isolated. Lanyon Quoit stood on the Penwith landscape for more than five thousand years, until it fell down in 1815. A few years later they put it back up again and, though somewhat diminished in height and facing a different direction, it remains an imposing testament to the Neolithic people who built it.

Barbara Hepworth Museum & Sculpture garden
The Sculptor Barbara Hepworth lived and worked in St Ives from 1949 until her death in 1975. Along with her husband, the painter Ben Nicholson, she was one of the community of artists that became known as the St Ives School.
