Marazion

Marazion is located on the Eastern edge of Mount's Bay in South West Cornwall, named after the Island of St Michael's Mount on which stands the eponymous castle. Formerly a Benedictine monastery, the Castle is owned by the National Trust and is home to the St. Aubyn family. A small community of around thirty staff also lives there.

Marazion is one of the oldest chartered towns in Cornwall. It's a popular holiday destination offering easy access to beaches, a good choice of holiday accommodation and plenty of shops, restaurants, galleries and other attractions both in the town itself and in neighbouring Penzance. It's also a popular destination for Windsurfing and kitesurfing in Cornwall.

You're standing on the causeway which links St Michael's Mount to the Cornish mainland. The causeway is submerged when the tide comes in. At such times the only access to and from the island is by boat. St Michael's Mount is directly ahead as the panorama opens and if you turn around to look behind you, you'll see the compact town of Marazion. To the West of the causeway (right of the castle) Mounts Bay extends all the way round to Penzance, one of the largest, busiest and most characterful towns in the South West of cornwall.
